Yes, the Android Pay and Google Wallet payment services from Google are now merging into Google Pay, the company has officially declared it in a latest blogpost.

If you've ever paid for groceries with Android Pay, used Chrome to automatically fill in your payment info, or purchased an app on Google Play, then you've already experienced some of the ways Google helps you pay for things online and in stores. Well, not exactly but Google has made a decision to put all its mobile payment services into just one brand. It's simpler and safer too because Google has tried to consolidate the features for a more consistent experience.

Google Wallet started in 2011 and enabled people to send money to direct email addresses or phone numbers linked to the recipient account. I, for one, lost hundreds of dollars in gift cards by adding them to my Android Pay account.

Google says "over the coming weeks, you'll see Google Pay online, in store, and across Google products, as well as when you're paying friends". As of now, the existing users of Android Pay and Google Wallet will only see a change in logo.

Monday, Google announced that it is making purchasing from a mobile device a lot more simple with the introduction of Google Pay. As like before, the new service also supports developers with a publicly available API access.

Currently, Google also gives many offers on the new Google Pay service payments, including at Airbnb, Dice, Fandango, HungryHouse, Instacart, etc. Apart from Google Pay, the company also had the UPI-based payment service called Tez.

From the blog post, it looks as if users won't have much to do to utilize Google Pay. However, the Samsung Pay, which works on both NFC and MST technologies, was launched in early 2017. We have to wait for some more announcement by the giant in future.
