Iran condemns terrible terror attack in Kabul

The Taliban used social media to claim responsibility for the attack, which comes exactly a week after its insurgents stormed Kabul's landmark Intercontinental hotel, killing at least 25 people, the majority foreigners.

"Police identified the attacker at a second checkpoint but couldn't stop him before he detonated the explosives near the old Ministry of the Interior building, Rahimi said", CNN reported. Fifteen people were killed in an attack on the academy in October 2017.

An explosives-filled ambulance exploded in Kabul, Afghanistan, on Saturday killing at least 95 people and wounding 158 others.

The Afghan minister of interior Wais Ahmad Barmak says the death toll from yesterday's suicide attack has climbed to at least 103 people. It was the second successful Taliban attack in a week on various high security targets in the city.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi issued a statement, an hour after the attack, condemning the act and extending sympathies with the bereaved families, Afghans, and the government of Afghanistan.

The US-led global force in Afghanistan has vowed ongoing support for the Afghan government and armed forces in their "difficult and unsafe work", adding that none of its members had been killed or wounded in the blast.

Pakistan denies supporting militants that carry out attacks in Afghanistan.

Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive of Afghanistan, decried the attacks as "insane, inhuman, heinous and a war crime" and called for further action being taken to prevent future attacks of terror.

He also called on the global community to "take further action" against "state-sponsored terrorism".
