'It's a perjury trap!' Trump warned not to talk to Mueller

President Trump said Wednesday he is willing to be interviewed under oath by special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion with Trump's campaign.

Fox News legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano said it would be very risky for President Donald Trump to speak with special counsel Bob Mueller, Thursday on "America's Newsroom".

Speaking at the White House on Wednesday, Trump maintained he was "absolutely" prepared to be questioned under oath by the top investigator. Now, it appears that Special Counsel Mueller may be ready to oblige the president. Trump's lawyers have been talking to the investigation team led by Mueller about an interview, and the form it might take, United States media reports said.

President Trump said Wednesday he will testify in the exceptional direction's investigation into Russian obstruction in the 2016 election - and will do as such under oath.

Months ago, Trump said he would "100 percent" agree to meet with Mueller's investigators, but more recently questioned why any interview would be needed since there was "no collusion".

Mueller is also reportedly moving closer to interviewing Trump on the departure of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and the firing of FBI Director James Comey.

Continuing with her tweet, Maggie Haberman reported that Donald Trump doesn't seem to understand that lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, even when not under oath, is a major crime.

Trump's lawyers have been publicly predicting that the Russian Federation probe is winding down and that the presidential interview would merely make it even clearer that the president did nothing wrong.

The White House, however, previously declined to confirm whether Trump was to be questioned by Mueller after reports were released by the Washington Post on Tuesday claiming that the special counsel was looking to interview the president.

Cobb said arrangements were being worked out between Mueller's team and the president's personal lawyers to set up the interview.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions holds a news conference at the Department of Justice on December 15, 2017. Trump said, "You fight back, oh, it's obstruction".

On the face of it, his statement represented a significant breakthrough in the Russian Federation investigation, since earlier this month Trump questioned why an interview would be needed because there had been "no collusion".

Meantime, the back-and-forth about what format a presidential interview would take continues. McCabe and Rybicki were both loyal aides to Comey, who confided in them about his interactions with Trump.
