'Jersey Shore' Cast Member the Situation Will Plead Guilty to Tax Fraud

'Jersey Shore' Cast Member the Situation Will Plead Guilty to Tax Fraud

In case you forgot amid all the Jersey Shore revival hype, Mike and his brother Marc Sorrentino were indicted just over three years ago on charges of hiding income from the government.

Citing the U.S. Department of Justice, The Blast reports that Sorrentino and his brother, Marc, have "agreed to plead guilty".

The pleas avert a trial scheduled to begin on February 8.

Mike's brother, Marc, also faced criminal charges and also agreed to plead guilty. It was not immediately clear which charges they will plead guilty to.

They also said Marc Sorrentino tampered with business records sought by a federal grand jury investigating the men. A spokesman for Interim U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito in New Jersey declined to comment.

Michael Sorrentino, now 35, popularized the phrase "gym, tan, laundry" to describe the pre-party routine of cast members.

The former "Jersey Shore" star and his brother were accused of not paying all federal income tax owed on approximately $8.9 million earned between 2010-2012. Mark has yet to be sentenced, his lawyer Jack Arseneault said in an email.

Both the Jersey Shore star and his brother/manager Marc were facing up to 20 years after failing to report nearly $9million in earnings. Mike Sorrentino was charged with two counts, as well as failure to file a tax return for 2011, when he allegedly earned almost $1.96 million.
