'Jersey Shore' star pleads guilty to tax charge

In the letter filed to the court on Wednesday, Sorrentino's attorneys said he and his brother, Marc, plan to plead guilty on Friday in Newark.

The Sorrentino brothers allegedly failed to pay income tax on their earnings of almost $9 million between 2010 and 2012. Michael Sorrentino on Friday pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion for deliberately concealing some of his income in 2011 by making cash deposits in amounts of less than $10,000 so they wouldn't trigger federal reporting requirements.

Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino plead guilty to charges of tax evasion in Newark, N.J. court on Friday.

They allegedly filed false documents that understated the income from the businesses as well as their personal income.

They were charged in 2014 and again previous year with multiple counts related to almost $9 million in income from the show.

USA Today notes both brothers were charged with one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States - a crime punishable by a prison sentence of five years after conviction.

Both also faced counts of filing false returns, each of which carries a maximum three-year sentence. Federal prosecutors accused the siblings of falsifying tax records on $8.9 million in earnings following a 2014 indictment for other tax-related offenses. They have been free on bail since the charges were made.

Marc Sorrentino also entered a guilty plea. That year, the reality star pulled in approximately $2 million.

After starring in six seasons of "Jersey Shore", Sorrentino went on to appear in several reality TV shows, including "Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars", "The Sorrentinos" and "Celebrity Big Brother". The two pleaded not guilty last April to additional tax fraud charges.

Teresa Giudice served almost a year in prison and was freed in December 2015.
