Karni Sena continues to demand ban on Padmavati despite clearance by CBFC

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) last week announced its decision to grant the certification to the controversial Bhansali directorial - subject to five modifications including a title change. The makers are yet to make any announcement about the film.

For the past few months, there have been many reports speculating the release date of the periodic drama.

The Shree Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena on Friday demanded a ban on "Padmavati" after slamming Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani and censor board chief Prasoon Joshi for allowing its release with a U/A certificate.

With two release dates for "Padmavati" being put forward, Arora is now in a dilemma. "The curiosity level to see Padmavat has increased to a hysterical point now." she told IANS. Whenever it opens it is going to be an instant crowdpuller. While they have PadMan scheduled to release on 26 January, their other release is Anushka Sharma-starrer Pari which will hit the screens on 9 February.

Directed and produced by Sanjay Bhansali with a whopping budget of 120+ crores, the film narrates the story of Rani Padmavati whose husband Ratansen suffered defeat at Allauddin Khilji's hands and how she committed suicide later to avoid getting exploited by the victorious enemy.

A source close to the development has revealed, "Pari is a small but concept-driven film". So, it won't be surprising if they actually move the date to accommodate Padmavat. "The director and his producers are yet to take a call on when to release the film", informs the source.

According to trade expert, Ramesh Bala Padmavati might release on February 9.
