Liverpool dealt transfer blow: Naby Keita move blocked by RB Leipzig

The Guinea global is set to complete his move to Anfield on 1 July but the Daily Telegraph now reports Liverpool are now willing to use some of the money collected from Philippe Coutinho's move to Barcelona to bring the deal forward and sign the player this month.

According to Sky Germany (via Sky Sports' Michael Kelleher), the Bundesliga outfit are "reluctant" to allow Keita to leave in the current window, even if offered further financial incentive.

Guinea global, Keita, will be Liverpool's record transfer when he signs for the Anfield club officially in the summer.

Now that Liverpool's bank balance has been boosted by Coutinho's sale to Barcelona, Klopp certainly has the cash available should he decide he can no longer wait for the Guinean.

Verratti is one of the best midfielders on the planet and is a world-class player, and the 25-year-old would be a blockbuster signing for Liverpool. With Leipzig knocked out of the Champions League, the option to move to Anfield to keep playing European football may be enough to entice Keïta, but Liverpool will have to make a stronger case to get Leipzig to agree.

Leipzig are already out of the Champions League while Bayern Munich are once again running away with the Bundesliga, while Keita is keen to move to Anfield as soon as possible.

Keita is one of their most vital players.

However, the Reds have sold Coutinho, who mainly played in the midfield this season and in such a scenario, the Reds are prepared to seal the signing of Keita this month.

The Merseyside club struck a deal with RB Leipzig to sign the highly-regarded Keita during last summer's transfer window for a reported fee of £57m, with the midfielder remaining at the German club for the duration of the 2017-18 season.
