Local immigrants travel to Washington to fight for Dreamers

It was just yesterday that President Trump hosted lawmakers from both parties at the White House and said he would sign any DACA bill that they sent him.

U.S. Republican lawmakers on Wednesday unveiled an immigration package that would tighten border security, end chain migration and fund U.S. President Donald Trump's border wall, while shielding almost a million so-called "Dreamers" from deportation.

Though Alsup is a district judge who does not himself sit on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, any appeal of his ruling would be heard by that federal appeals court.

The president added that he wanted "a merit based system of immigration and people who will help take our country to the next level" and "safety and security" for Americans.

So what do legal experts think of the political ping pong Tuesday brought us, and the ramifications of the day moving forward?

Trump met with lawmakers Tuesday in an hourlong televised meeting to begin negotiations. He's the director of the Institute for Higher Education Law & Governance at the University of Houston.

The initiative also proposes to allot $30 billion for the construction of a controversial wall on the United States border with Mexico and do away with the visa lottery programme, which benefits citizens of countries who have a low number of immigrants to the US.

Addressing the media afterward, White House spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the administration believes "the wall is part of border security, that is one component".

Her glimmer of hope was reignited following an announcement by a California judge to temporarily block the Trump administration's decision to end the DACA program.

DACA protects undocumented immigrants who entered the country as children from deportation and allows them to work legally. "Then after that, they were called by their bosses and say, oh, wait a minute", he said, implying that the coverage then turned negative.

Washington: A U.S. judge has ordered President Donald Trump to partially revive the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) immigration policy, reports IANS.

"We are now working to build support for that deal in Congress", said Sen. The Justice Department had contended the program must end because its creation had circumvented Congress. He declared that the Homeland Security secretary has the authority to grant the sort of temporary protections from deportation that DACA provided. Stay with TODEC because we are going to start giving instructions and we will be helping them for free to fill out applications.
