Manchester City ends interest in signing Alexis Sanchez

Manchester City ends interest in signing Alexis Sanchez

"I don't think it's easy for a player to play when there are doubts about his future".

The only question now is whether that means the Chilean is headed for United or City.

The Arsenal forward, out of contract in the summer, appears to be on his way out of the north London club after being omitted from the Gunners' squad to face Bournemouth on Sunday.

Arsene Wenger explained in his post-match press conference that a deal "could happen today, tomorrow or not at all".

"I'm not going to speak about hypothetical situations".

"Alexis would have played, but it s a hard period for him". "You will find someone who wants to talk about defending, no clean sheet, but he can blow up my boots".

To add to the drama engulfing the 29-year-old, several reports claimed that City were no longer interested in their long-term target because they deemed him too expensive.

City reportedly pulled out after refusing to meet Arsenal's £35m valuation.

Pep Guardiola, the City head coach, met with his director of football, Txiki Begiristain, and Ferran Soriano, the club's chief executive, today to discuss Sánchez's transfer.

"If it happens, happens, if it doesn't happen then it doesn't happen but I like my squad, I like my players, the more time I spend with them this week was also good to be sure of that".

And the player himself?

"He is an Arsenal player, he can stay there, but I have a feeling he can move and if he moves I think we have a chance".

"I've enjoyed it. I'd never needed a psychologist when I was playing but it was little things - join a gym half an hour away so it breaks up your day and you're not just going to a gym around the corner".

Liverpool, who are unbeaten in the league since October, leapfrog Chelsea into third spot, level on 47 points with the Blues and United.
