Manchester United confident of signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal

Manchester United confident of signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal

"They have to accept this responsibility and it can't happen again because these players should be tied down to long-term contracts, they shouldn't be going to enhance United or City".

Alexis Sanchez has been left out of Arsenal travelling squad for the Premier League clash against Bournemouth amid surging rumours that a move to Manchester United is all but done.

In the tweet below, Ferdinand explains that he would love to see Sanchez join United and that he will personally direct the Chilean to Old Trafford to help push a move. It is likely that the wantaway striker will be playing for Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, with just the small matter of "when" to be ironed out, and former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand seems to think so.

According to a Daily Mail report, Manchester United are prepared to make Alexis Sanchez the Premier League's first £350,000-a-week player - with Jose Mourinho pledging to pay for it by sacrificing summer bids for Antoine Griezmann and Gareth Bale.

And Cole believes that Mourinho needs to take advantage of this window of opportunity to sign Sanchez this month.

"I look at Arsenal without Sanchez and Ozil and I'd ask what name would fans get on their shirts if those two go?"

So, when it emerged Sanchez has been left out of the squad, United supporters were quick to express their excitement on Twitter...

But with Arsenal pulling the plug on a £60m sale of Sanchez to City on the final day of the window due to their failure to sign a replacement, United have since explored the possibility of signing him.

"The only word I can say is he is a phenomenal player, apart from that Arsenal player and I feel I shouldn't say much more than this".
