NAACP president on Trump: 'We know he's a racist'

NAACP president on Trump: 'We know he's a racist'

Last fall, the Department of Homeland Security canceled the Temporary Protected Status for Haitian immigrants.

DACA is short for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.

The Pope has criticized Trump in the past over his immigration policy.

But Democratic Senator Dick Durbin who was reportedly at the meeting said the USA president used "shitholes" in the context of African countries.

Haiti said it was shocked by Trump's reported remarks and summoned the top usa diplomat in the country for an explanation. The president then suggested that the United States should "bring more people from countries like Norway". Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, the most powerful Republican in the House, called the president's comments "unfortunate" and "unhelpful".

"We were deeply disturbed and offended by President Trump's remarks regarding Haiti and African countries", the Democrats said in a joint statement. He tweeted Friday that he used "tough" language but "not that language", which was being taken as a denial of the "sh*thole" comment, although Mr. Trump did not specifically reference that phrase in his denial. The most "tough" thing at the scandalous meeting was the "outlandish proposal" made by the bipartisan group on DACA, he added.

"Never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country", he wrote.

The group's mission in Washington DC expressed its "shock, dismay and outrage" and said the Trump administration misunderstood Africans. He has also considered recording all his meetings to prevent similar controversies in the future.

His comment clashed with a statement by two other Republican participants Sens. I've not read one of them that's inaccurate.

Mr Trump appeared to ignore shouted questions from the media, with one reporter asking: "Mr President, are you a racist?"

It said the "remarks dishonour the celebrated American creed and respect for diversity and human dignity".

"The AU mission condemns the statement in the strongest terms and demands a retraction of the comment as well as an apology to not only the Africans but to all people of African descent across the globe".

Some African governments found themselves in a hard position. "They weren't shithole when their people were building America".

Why should we accept any less from the President of the United States of America?

Sylvester Odion Akhaine teaches global relations at the Lagos State University in Nigeria.

Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages is also voicing disgust over the comments.

"Following comments by the President, I said my piece directly to him yesterday (Thursday)". Trump denies using the word "shithole" including towards Haiti, which is marking the eighth anniversary of a devastating quake.

Reactions in the U.S. In addition to Ghana, the government of Botswana said Trump's language is "reprehensible and racist", and said it has summoned the USA ambassador to clarify what he meant. Diaz-Balart issued a statement that did not acknowledge or refute the president's "sh*thole" remarks. On Thursday, the president reportedly asked: "Why do we want these people from all these s**thole countries here?" "Do we need more Haitians?'" Durbin said. Dr. Rodney Charitable is a design engineer in the defense industry and a Haitian immigrant who said the portrayal of his country is offensive. And she called on Trump to apologize to the American people.

The same goes for our nation's health care system, where care seems to become less affordable with each passing year despite a law that promised better.
