National Bank admits hackers stole Ksh.29 million

The National Bank on Friday broke its silence regarding the hacking of its IT systems by fraudsters who reportedly made away with more than Ksh.150 million.

The banking giant confirmed the incident in a statement seen by TUKO.co.ke, and said their security team had frustrated attempts by fraudsters to steal the money.

The bank has denied that customers' accounts are affected.

It further dismissed as false the social media speculation on the potential loss in what the institution called "attempted fraud".

This comes a month after police in Thika arrested three people in connection with the theft of Sh50 million from KCB bank through an underground tunnel.
