"We are saying no to sexual assault and sexual harassment".

Several hundred protesters also gathered in Palm Beach, Florida near Mr Trump's Mar-a-Lago home.

The #MeToo moment and allegations of men sexually harassing women, in particular, has resonated more with some women than with others.

She says the current administration represents "one of the worst times in our history" and that "women are going to be the ones that fix it".

Official estimates suggest that the Los Angeles rally saw the attendance of almost 300,000 people while NY saw 100,000 people coming out in the march to show their dismay with the policies and actions of Trump and his administration.

Local resident Emaan Khawaja, 17, said the event is "monumental" for the city.

She urged the participants to organize, vote and run for office, particularly highlighting the need for the election of more women of color.
