Newcastle United not selling Atsu and Co

Newcastle United not selling Atsu and Co

Rafa Benitez says he will not sell anyone now playing in Newcastle United' s first-team and admits he has still not been told what his transfer budget will be this month.

He said: "We can not sell players that are playing because we would have to replace them for better players and, in January, we would need a lot of money to convince players to come here".

"I talk to Lee Charnley everyday, but no idea (on any budget) but still working".

Carvalhal said: "After the game, I don't know if we have achieved one point or lost two, really, especially when I arrive in the dressing room and my players are really upset because there was the feeling that we could win this game". "And in January you need a lot of money to convince players to come here".

"We have to learn that every single mistake can cost you and we can't make these mistakes". We have had some people asking but nothing serious and no offers on any of our players.

The former Sheffield Wednesday coach will need to assess both Renato Sanches and Tammy Abraham before kick-off as they try to overcome hamstring and hip injuries respectively.

"But I don't see the game as a threat or something negative".

"We are talking with agents but can not push too much".

"To achieve that we must play better and better and jump to another level".

Swansea remain bottom of the table with 16 games left to play, four points from safety and six behind Rafael Benitez's Magpies in 13th place.

And if the Magpies fail to add an established forward to their ranks this month, they could be in real trouble. It is very hard to create chances against them.

"My record against Newcastle does not mean we have an advantage for this game", said Carvalhal, who also enjoyed a Hillsborough victory over Benitez last season as the Owls completed a league double over the eventual champions. "A massive game for them, a massive game for us".
