North American Registration Open for PS4 Update 5.50 Beta

North American Registration Open for PS4 Update 5.50 Beta

Sony has announced that PS4 update 5.50 is on the horizon, with the hardware giant now in the process of testing the patch ahead of its official roll out. You'll get to try out the new features before anyone else, although this is a beta so somethings may not work correctly.

Registration closes once the beta begins, so if you're interested then it's worth signing up early. And good news for Canadian folks - beginning this beta, PS4 owners in Canada are also able to register for the beta testing. There only seems to be one stipulation in registering for the beta - those who register must be 18 years or older. In order to sign up, you'll need a PS4 system with an internet connection and SEN account. If you want to test the new 2018 system update, you have until January 23 (Japan) or February (North America) to apply, after which applicants will no longer be accepted.

If you're part of the program, you'll receive an email with instructions on downloading the beta version of the next system software.

Sony is starting a new initiative in beta testing future system software updates on the console. Sony noted that gamers can roll back to the current system version at any time, in case something goes wrong with the beta version of the upcoming major update. Users who are selected into a group for future beta tests will receive an exclusive PlayStation Network avatar. Your feedback helps us make the system software update even better.
