Outrage after woman nursing baby is asked to leave Chick-fil-A

Outrage after woman nursing baby is asked to leave Chick-fil-A

She said while she was there she had to breastfeed her daughter but was asked to cover-up or leave by the owner.

The mother says as she was nursing the baby, the restaurant's owner, Kimberly Flamm, came up to her and asked her to cover up because men and children were present.

The mother wrote on Facebook she was "showing no more than the upper portion" of her breast, "barely more than what was visible in my shirt".

The incident sparked outrage on social media, which led to Flamm issuing an apology on the chain's Facebook page. "Like, all I'm doing is feeding my baby". "And I sincerely apologize for the way I handled this situation". "I was anxious about her, and how she was feeling". She approached their table and told Hornung that she had to cover up, or leave.

So my husband, son, and I gathered our things and I informed her that I would be reviewing accordingly and sharing my experience with every breastfeeding mother I know.

"This will not go unnoticed and I am very proud to know women like you are fearless enough to stand their ground and do what is right".

Hornung sat down for an interview with Valley News Live to explain what happened and what she wants to see done about it.

"I said they could practice the simple art of looking away and tried to cite North Dakota breastfeeding laws", Hornung continued in her widely shared post.

Many people jumped into the conversation, coming to Macy's defense.

Chick-fil-A, which began as a family-owned restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia, has over 2,000 restaurants across the United States. Per North Dakota law, that's totally cool, but the location was in its soft-opening, and owner Kimberly Flamm was (by her own assessment) especially keen on providing "a warm and welcoming environment for all of my guests".
