Qatar files another complaint over UAE

Qatar files another complaint over UAE

The United Arab Emirates said on Monday that Qatari fighter jets intercepted an Emirati civilian aircraft during a routine flight to Bahrain, which Qatar denied, Reuters reports.

A spokeswoman for Qatar's foreign ministry denied the accusations.

The incident affected a UAE flag carrier en route to the Bahrani capital, the country's civil aviation authorities were quoted as saying.

"Qatari fighter jets intercept an Emirati civilian aircraft during a routine flight to Manama in a flagrant threat to civil aviation safety and in a clear violation of worldwide law", the UAE General Authority of Civil Aviation said.

Saif Al Thani, a Qatari government spokesman, denied the UAE's claim on Twitter, calling it "completely untrue". Both airlines declined to comment when reached by AP.

GCAA described the incident as risky and a violation of worldwide laws.

Recently, Qatar accused Emirati military jets of violating its air space in December and January in two incidents, filing a complaint to the United Nations.

The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt have cut diplomatic ties with Qatar in June 2017, accusing Doha of supporting "extremism and terrorism".
