The cat came back - Mad Catz presses continue…

A odd teaser released in December hinted rather strongly that peripheral maker Mad Catz was coming back from the bankruptcy it filed for in early 2017. This new line of products will be the start of a newer, more humble Mad Catz, the company says. Its return will see them the firm on just a small selection of items, with newly designed R.A.T. mice, S.T.R.I.K.E. keyboards, F.R.E.Q. gaming headsets and G.L.I.D.E gaming surfaces. The original company was headquartered in San Diego, while this new iteration is based out of Hong Kong.

After fading from the market early a year ago, Mad Catz Global Limited made a surprise announcement today that it's back and ready to wow the gaming populace with brand new lines of high-end gaming peripherals.

"Mad Catz has been a permanent fixture in gaming for nearly three decades and we firmly believe it's best days lie ahead", Mad Catz Director of Sales and Operations Selena Change said.

Less than a year after the company went dark following a string of financial hits, Mad Catz returns today under new management.

The company's first chance to prove that they are serious about this comeback attempt will come during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week. The announcement teases three of the products Mad Catz will be showing off at CES, but we'll have to wait until next week to find out more details beyond that. In fact the company has announced a trio of new hardware: the Rat Air mouse, the RGB-lit Strike 4 mechanical keyboard, and the Freq 4 gaming headset. According to the manufacturer, the R.A.T. AIR does not require an unreliable battery pack to function, but functions by harnessing power from a wireless activation gaming surface, which is available when you purchase the product.

One of Mad Catz initial downfalls was its expansive lineup of products, many of which did not perform as expected. Mad Catz plan on distributing its products via leading retailers around the globe.
