Vikings activate Bradford, Bridgewater will reportedly be No. 2

Vikings activate Bradford, Bridgewater will reportedly be No. 2

The Vikings waived tight end Kyle Carter on Saturday to make room for Bradford, who last played at Chicago on October 9 and returned to practice last week after recovering from a left knee injury.

The Minnesota Vikings managed to take full advantage of the bye week to rest up some of their veterans in preparation for their NFC Divisional Game versus the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

The Star Tribune is reporting that Teddy Bridgewater will still be Case Keenum's backup QB.

If this is true, it's possible that Bradford could suit up as the team's third-string option against New Orleans, but Minnesota has not had three quarterbacks active for a single game since Leslie Frazier was the team's coach in 2013.

Mike Zimmer's squad is no stranger to accomplishing the impossible in 2017, either. That means he could dress for tomorrow's playoff game against the Saints. But now the question is who will back Keenum up.

For whatever it's worth, all the way back on September 11, Bradford threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns in a 29-19 home win over the Saints in Week 1. The surgery was not related to the two procedures he had to fix a torn ACL in 2013 and 2014.

The Star Tribune has reported that Bridgewater is expected to be the backup, though.

"Some things you don't talk about", he said.

The Vikings now have four quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, but Kyle Sloter, who was inactive for the last eight regular-season games, definitely will be inactive again Sunday. He injured his left knee in that game, and was out until returning October 9 at Chicago. For now, it appears that the depth chart will be Keenum first, then Bradford, then Bridgewater.

Bradford was placed on the IR on November 8 after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to clean his left knee. Since then, he's participated in five practices. They've been mixing him in and getting him some reps here and there.
