Watch Katharine Graham's steely description of her Pentagon Papers moment

As history, the film is a much better portrait of a trailblazing female executive than it is of journalism.

"To what rhetoric can rouse people".

- You need to see The Post.

The news broke last weekend that the Trump administration put in a request with 20th Century Fox to screen Steven Spielberg's new movie "The Post" in the White House's movie theater. Oh, yes. But Spielberg knows something about movies, and that tableau, obvious though it may be, is lovely.

You want to remember how good the church could be.

She had to make a quick, but informed decision, though, as The Washington Post only had a small amount of time to share the scoop.

Streep concluded her remarks by quoting her character, Washington Post publisher Katharine Graham, who strides forward at a crucial moment in the male-dominated 1970s newspaper industry to publish the Pentagon Papers in "The Post".

While, the Washington Post at the time is clearly not at par with The New York Times, which is a bigger, more sought after publication, it doesn't stop the duo from taking up the challenge of being the best in the business. Plus, The Devil Wears Prada star sits down for a chat with Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour, and on Jimmy Kimmel Live she has some difficulty remembering all of the roles she's received Oscar nominations for throughout her career. As the movie begins, Graham is hanging on to a naïve faith in American leaders. Also, the way the costume and set designers bring the 70s back to life is simply stunning, and all those old-school newsrooms full of typewriters and paper stacks invoke nostalgia.

Paulson is only one of the high-profile TV stars that appear at the margins, as the filmmakers have cast this project to the hilt, including Matthew Rhys as whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg and Bob Odenkirk as Bradlee's trusted lieutenant Ben Bagdikian. It's something that you don't always expect and if they do it their way or the way it was done onscreen it doesn't really matter since it's all fun and games at that point.

Publishing the papers could land Bradlee and Graham in prison. Still, she is afraid that the federal government might shut down the Post - her family's newspaper is at stake.

Meryl Streep (as Kay Graham): "We can't hold them accountable if we don't have a newspaper". And he warns her early in the movie that the Times will be publishing news about him in an unflattering way. Putting the good of the country before your own financial interest sounds corny, but it shouldn't. "The Post" - like "Spotlight" two years ago - respects the craft, the mission and the thrill of journalism, as well as those dedicated to carrying it out.

Churches should see themselves in this movie.

Spielberg occasionally hammers a little hard on the main message of "The Post", about the press's watchdog role against a deceitful presidency, but that doesn't make this story of First Amendment heroism any less compelling or necessary. The church, like the board of the Post, is tempted to focus on survival. Americans have the Constitution. He doesn't believe in anything standing between the public and the truth. When the church is courageous, the church attracts those who want to live with conviction.

The press was to serve the governed, not the governors.

Christ's church is to serve the world, not the church.
