Women's Marches draw large crowds as demonstrations continue for second straight day

The coordinated rallies in Washington, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and about 250 other cities were a reprise of the mass protests that marked the beginning of Mr Trump's presidency.

"This next stage of the movement will channel the energy and activism of the Women's March into tangible strategies and concrete wins in 2018", a statement on the march's website said.

"We have to march together, we have to organize together, we have to mobilize together and we have to vote together, even when we don't like one another", said Tamika Mallory, co-chairwoman of the national Women's March organization, in Las Vegas.

"If the Congress, if the White House, if the governorships across America had more women like I see here today, we would be a much better America", Perez said.

Betty Foster, who traveled from the Midwestern state of OH to participate in the Las Vegas rally, said the march was "very important" in the context of the current administration, which she says "brought out so many evil parts of the country".

Vargas marched at last year's event in NY, an experience she described as "incredible" and powerful. Perhaps this time next year, after the 2018 midterm election, the Trump administration may finally heed them.

Last year, she chose not to attend the Women's March, frustrated that sex workers had not been invited to represent a platform. That's the transit agency's second highest number ever for a weekend day, especially because about 175,000 riders use BART on Saturdays.

Millions of people around the world marched during last year's rallies, and many on Saturday talked about the news avalanche of politics and gender issues in the past year.

Oklahoma City protesters chanted "We need a leader, not a creepy tweeter!" She then emphasized that the USA president deserves an F for his first year in office.

Despite the impact of #MeToo, many women have felt excluded from it for safety reasons, said one of the event's organizers, Sandra Wesley - also the executive director of sex work organization Chez Stella. The organizers say they are less concerned with crowd size than with spreading their message. She gave the most important speech of the day - demanding that rallygoers make it a priority to vote and run for political office.

Trump made the decision to end DACA, an Obama-era immigration executive order, last year, but delayed the repeal until March. Organizers have since estimated that about 500,000 people were in attendance at Washington, D.C.'s historic march, with hundreds of thousands of others present at sister marches around the world.

"I hope she grows up in an environment where she feels she can speak her mind", Sara said.

"Caitlyn MacGregor, with "#metoo" written on her face, attends the second annual Women's March in Cambridge, M.A.

Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of NY, who is often mentioned as a potential 2020 presidential candidate, also addressed the participants, saying: "It is women, who are holding our democracy together in these risky times". It's one of dozens of demonstrations taking place across the country on Saturday.
