YouTube Looking Into 'Further Consequences' for Logan Paul's Disturbing Video

According to a source at the website who spoke to Bloomberg, YouTube is planning to vet videos in the top-tier Preferred Ad Programme more closely, with more human moderation.

More recently, one of YouTube's biggest stars, Logan Paul, was lambasted for his ill-conceived video set in Japan's so-called "suicide forest", which featured a semi-blurred corpse hanging from a tree for several minutes. You deserve to know what's going on.

In an open letter earlier this week, YouTube said "suicide is not a joke, nor should it ever be a driving force for views". As Anna Akana put it perfectly: 'That body was a person someone loved.

The 22-year-old said he felt ashamed and did not expect to be forgiven after filming in Japan's Aokigahara Forest - which is known to be a frequent site of suicides.

On Tuesday, Jan. 9, YouTube said that Paul's channel violated its community guidelines and it will have consequences. "It's taken us a long time to respond, but we've been listening to everything you've been saying". It adds that it was taking steps to ensure similar videos are never circulated again. Its decision comes more than a week after Paul posted the video, and YouTube received heavy criticism during this time for not removing the channel and not issuing a statement sooner to express its regret to the family of the victim.

After the video was removed, Paul - who has 15 million YouTube subscribers - posted a written apology to Twitter, saying his intention was to "raise awareness for suicide and suicide prevention". Paul later posted a video apologizing for his actions, and stated that he would take a break from social media. These channels also have some of the most interesting content, which are also brand safe. This is the last thing we want to be showing our children.
