Ben Youngs ruled out of NatWest 6 Nations

Scrumhalf Richard Wigglesworth was recalled by England ahead of its Six Nations rugby match against Wales as a replacement for Ben Youngs, who could miss the rest of the tournament with a knee injury. Play was halted for several minutes as the 28-year-old was taken off the pitch on a stretcher with his leg heavily strapped after getting his knee caught in a ruck that caused him to scream out in pain.

The RFU made the announcement about the Leicester Tigers star earlier this evening.

Youngs will be assessed by a surgeon this week but he is expected to be out of action for four months.

Danny Care is expected to start against Wales but Wigglesworth will be part of the matchday 23, almost two-and-a-half years since winning his last cap against Uruguay - England's last match under Stuart Lancaster.

Danny Care is aiming to grasp his opportunity to become England's most capped scrum-half as a starter, by filling the void left by Ben Youngs.

"Saracens scrum half Richard Wigglesworth has been added to the squad following an injury to Ben Youngs, with Exeter Chiefs hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie also coming in", the RFU added. "I'm always optimistic", England coach Eddie Jones told reporters. "And they're only going to get quicker".
