Lighter Gmail Go now available in India

Fortunately, Google hasn't made note of any instance of users being affected by security issues, which is good news following word of potential CPU vulnerabilities revealed by the company's own Project Zero late past year.

Google is releasing new compact versions of their services in terms of redesigned apps for the users of Android Go operating system. They asked not to be identified discussing the private plans. These Go applications have been designed for phones with low memory and storage space, similar to Gmail Go. Embracing the notch may help change that. You may recognize the little floating chat bubbles that you can drag around your phone as a mainstay of Android, but they were in fact invented in their modern form by Facebook back in 2013 as part of a now-defunct Android lock screen product called Facebook Home, which bundled Messenger chats with your SMS text messages for the first time. Android handset makers will be able to stay in lock step with Apple when it comes to design and technology as a result, noted Bloomberg.

Is Apple slowing down your iPhone? These partners can also tweak the software to their specific needs, so not all Android phones will have notches.

Despite mocking the iPhone X in an advert, Samsung has filed a patent showing a version of a phone with a notch in the display.

Still, building notch capabilities into Android suggests Google expects the iPhone X look to catch on more broadly.

The Google Dialer, for folks who aren't familiar, is a customized version of the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) phone app with a few extra features.

On top of all this, the new operating system should see Google promote and improve its own integrated digital assistant to compete with Apple's Siri and Amazon.com Inc's Alexa. The app can be found here in Google Play.

There is however no confirmation yet that these two improvements will be included in this year's version of the Android OS or not. Internally, Google is calling the latest one Pistachio Ice Cream, but the company typically uses different official names, the people also said.
