At the time of the launch the company announced that the device will soon the iPhone X like Face Unlock feature. Apparently, there's talk of wireless charging and iris scanning support, features that have been touted for the flagship Xiaomi Mi 7, but are nowhere near the Redmi Note 5 Pro, although the latter comes with Face Unlock. Now the company has revealed that it has started rolling out an OTA update which will bring the Face Unlock feature to the smartphone.

According to Xiaomi India, over 300,000 units sold out in less than three minutes, but enraged fans took over the Reply button on Twitter, explaining the phone was out of stock in 10 seconds, and some orders were even canceled after that. Next sale of the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro will be held on February 28, while the next sale for Mi LED TV 4 will be held on February 27. On the other hand, Xiaomi's Mi LED TV 4 was also on sale in India and was claimed to have sold out within 10 seconds.

Briefly talking about the specifications, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is essentially a rebranded Redmi 5 Plus and sports a 5.99-inch full-HD+ (1080x2160 pixels) display. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor paired with 4GB/6GB of RAM.

Meanwhile, the Redmi 5 Plus is now available with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage at RM899. For imaging, it comes with a 12MP main camera and a front-facing 5MP selfie shooter. The phone features 12-megapixel primary lens with 1.25-micron pixel and f/2.2 aperture along with a 5-megapixel secondary sensor with 1.12-micron pixel and f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone flaunts 12MP and 5MP sensors at the rear end with LED flash. The smartphone is backed by a 4000 mAh battery and offers 4G, VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Global Positioning System as connectivity options.
