Angry protest over shooting of unarmed black man in…

Demonstrators blocked an interstate highway in Sacramento, Calif. on Thursday afternoon as they protested the city's latest police shooting of an unarmed black man.

There was shouting but no apparent violence as frustrated fans waited outside.

The protesters earlier marched from Sacramento City Hall and onto a nearby freeway, disrupting rush hour traffic and holding signs with messages like "Sac PD: Stop killing us!" On Sunday night, Stephon Clark was sacked upon some 20 times by police who claimed that the 22-year-old pointed a gun at them after they chased him into his grandmother's backyard.

"He (Clark) didn't make any threats against the police, there is no evidence he committed a crime, there was no warning from the police, there was no identification from the police", Crump said.

On Sunday, officers fired 20 times at Clark, hitting him multiple times, police told CNN affiliate KOVR. "And we stand here before you-old, young, black, white, brown-and we are all united in our commitment". We here at the Kings realize that we have a big platform.

The only thing police officers discovered after killing Stephon Clark was his cell phone.

Police released body camera footage from the shooting on Wednesday night as well as thermal-imaging video from a Sacramento Sheriff's Department helicopter, which shows Clark running from a neighbor's yard and onto his grandmother's property. "We are going to work really hard to prevent this kind of tragedy from happening again". But Clark was only holding a cellphone. "Gun, gun, gun", one of the officers yells before they begin shooting.

Two Sacramento police officers, responding to a report of someone shattering vehicle windows, killed Stephon Alonzo Clark, 22, on Sunday in a hail of bullets.

The department's rapid release of audio and video footage follows a 2016 vote by the Sacramento City Council ordering police to release all video from an officer-involved shooting, in-custody death or complaint to the Office of Public Safety Accountability within 30 days - except in cases where release of the video would hamper or taint an ongoing investigation. Police claimed they thought the cellphone in his hand was a gun. Deputies in a Sacramento County Sheriff's Department helicopter said they spotted the suspect and reported that he had picked up a toolbar and broken a window in a residence.

The only thing they discovered near his head later was an iPhone.

"Something in his hands, it looked like a gun from our perspective", one officer says.

Steinberg said appropriate questions have been raised about the protocols for using force and rendering emergency aid during police shootings and they must be answered in the investigation.

Hahn also said that there will be "a lot more" video from the night of Clark's shooting released next week. Hahn said it does "seem excessive", but says investigators will determine if it violated police guidelines.

"This is an epic day for black Sacramento", Brrazey Liberty, a musician and Black Lives Matter activist told The Sacramento Bee. He described his brother as stylish like wrestler Ric Flair and an entrepreneur.
