Black Mirror renewed for season 5

Black Mirror renewed for season 5

Black Mirror has officially been renewed for a fifth season and it is the best news we've heard all week.

The official Twitter feed of Charlie Brooker's darkly satirical programme teased the news using a phrase from the show: 'Be right back'.

Get ready for another round of addictive, fascinating, and often terrifying Black Mirror episodes. Some episodes which are usually set in an alternate present or near future, are incredibly dark and disturbing while others are more satirical, lighter, or experimental.

At the time, Cindy Holland, VP of original content at Netflix, called Black Mirror "one-of-a-kind series with an uncanny voice and prescient, darkly comedic vision".

The first two seasons (or "series") of Black Mirror totaled six episodes combined.

You don't need to be an iPhone fundi or an Xbox nerd to let Black Mirror's alchemy wash over you. That seems to be the norm for the new seasons on Netflix. Netflix picked up the series for the third, fourth, and now fifth seasons.

Created by Charlie Brooker, Black Mirror is an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia. If you haven't seen the series, we highly recommend watching the series if you're looking for a new show to watch on the streaming service.

We'll let you know when the season 5 premiere date on Netflix will be. Considering the past concepts of the series were so far out and nearly unimaginable it's hard to say what season five will bring.
