Broncos and Keenum agree on two years

Broncos and Keenum agree on two years

In a move that will surely anger those that are in the anti-Kirk Cousins camp, Case Keenum, the quarterback who was at the helm of the Vikings quarterback position last season and who was the man that most of the anti-Kirk Cousins train were pointing to as the QB the Vikings should retain, is reportedly signing with the Denver Broncos when Free Agency officially starts.

His last-second touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs, dubbed "The Minneapolis Miracle", sent the Vikings to the conference title game, where they were thrashed 38-7 by the Philadelphia Eagles. With Denver no longer interested in signing him, the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals appear to be the three possible destinations for the former Washington Redskins' quarterback.

After sitting out the playoffs in each of the last two years following their Super Bowl 50 triumph, the Broncos have apparently found their next signal-caller.

In landing a player they see as their starter, the Broncos expanded their options with their first-round draft selection this year.

The roughly $10 million a year savings will help the Broncos address other problems on their roster that was only good for a 5-11 record in 2017. He played two-plus seasons each for the Texans (where he played for Broncos adviser Gary Kubiak) and Rams, and one season with the Vikings. Keenum will make between $18 million and $20 million per year with the Broncos, according to Pro Football Talk. "When you get opportunities like this, you've got to take advantage of them, so we're going to take advantage of it".

While this might puzzle some Broncos fans who thought the team was clearing the decks to dabble in the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes, executive vice president John Elway might have made the smarter play. We didn't play very well there past year, and that's not all on the players. "But I feel like we can get right back in the thick of things pretty quickly".
