"Chrono Trigger" PC Release Makes an Unexpected Appearance

Chrono Trigger is what happens. It was published by the popular company Square. The game places players in control of a group of adventurers who travel back and forth through time to save the world from a catastrophe. Critics praised the gameplay, immersive story, high replay value and the graphics. The gameplay was also revolutionary for its day.

As you'd expect for a game originally released on SNES in 1995, the system requirements are quite modest.

Regardless, "Chrono Trigger" still has some serious fans out there. Except of course when it turns out to be nothing more that a poorly optimised mobile port with awful filtering and a UI that looks worse than you could possibly imagine. This release will make it the first time the game is officially playable on PC. In any form, this is a game that deserves to find a new audience. It features the same animated cutscenes, Dimensional Vortex, and Lost Sanctum dungeons that former players will remember from the original. Finally, an auto-save function is provided as well.

Sounds pretty good, right?

There's no doubt that rabid fans of the Chrono franchise will still love the game, no matter what. According to many of those user reviews, this is a port of the mobile version of Chrono Trigger, which is definitely one of the weaker ports. They compare the graphics as well as the font and say it looks more like a quick rehash of the IOS or Android versions. The game is also seeing release today on the Amazon AppStore.

Limited Edition - Includes an enchanting and specially edited digital song file containing a medley of five songs, Composer Yasunori Mitsuda's digital liner notes, and a collection of six stunning PC wallpapers in varying sizes.

Square-Enix has regularly released their back catalog onto Steam, including an HD remaster of Final Fantasy XII as their most recent trip to past.
