Coutinho: Neymar's return to Barcelona 'would be awesome'

Neymar only left Barca for French giant Paris Saint-Germain in August previous year, the Brazil star becoming the world's most expensive player after his release clause was activated.

The ex-Barcelona man has been outstanding this season, registering 28 goals and 16 assists in just 30 matches in all competitions, but things have taken a turn for the worse lately.

An injury that the Brazilian could theoretically have played through, with PSG facing into a decisive Champions League tie against Real Madrid, Neymar Jr's decision rendered him incapable of featuring in the club's biggest game since his record-breaking move there the summer before.

"There was all the talk about wanting to win the Ballon d'Or [when Neymar joined PSG], but that does not matter".

Telefoot also reported Al-Khelaifi and sporting director Antero Henrique will travel to Brazil for talks with Neymar, who preferred a return to his native land for ankle treatment rather than staying in Paris (h/t Marca).

He is believed to have told former team-mates that he was wrong in wanting to step out from Lionel Messi's shadow and lacks the understanding he had with his former colleagues. He was talked about as part of that three up front, so the reasons for him leaving were unusual and surprising when it happened.

Strong rumors are swirling around in European media circles about Neymar and his discomfort at staying on with the French club PSG.

"So it is far too much of a risk and a cost and the only time I can see it being easier to move on is when he has a year, 18 months, or two years left on his contract, when he maybe is a bit more affordable".

They say Neymar's old side Barca are the Brazil international's first choice if he leaves PSG this summer.
