Derrick Rose to doubters: "I don't need your f****** validation"

Derrick Rose to doubters:

I know who I am, I know what type of player I am.

Despite those underwhelming figures, Rose has remained steadfast in his belief that he can still help the Timberwolves as they pursue their first postseason appearance since 2004.

Many have questioned the move by head coach and team president Tom Thibodeau, who coached Rose for five seasons with the Chicago Bulls, questioning not only how much Rose has left in the tank but also the impact the move could have on promising point guard Tyus Jones.

"You can have your perspective on me, as far as I'm a bum, I can't play, I can't shoot, this and that".

All that said, it makes sense that Rose would feel the need to defend himself. But the reason for me coming back here is for me just to be comfortable, be around people that I know. In late November, he took a leave of absence from the team to evaluate his future and whether or not he wanted to continue his National Basketball Association career.

Rose was waived by the Utah Jazz on February 10 after the team acquired him in a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers on February 8.

Rose agreed to sign with the Timberwolves for the rest of the season per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

During his time with the Cavaliers, he averaged 9.8 points per game, about half of his career per-game average of 19.2 points and 5.8 assists. His future was as bright as any player in the league before he tore his ACL in the 2012 playoffs.

"Derrick Rose on what he expects in terms of playing time/role: "[Thibs] wouldn't have me come here if he wasn't gonna use me".

Rose took some time off earlier this season to evaluate his options. He insisted the 29-year-old guard still, when healthy, can play at an elite level.

The 2011 NBA MVP started the season with the Cavaliers after he signed a one-year veteran's minimum contract of only $2.1 million. It also turns out that Brett Michaels and the guys from Poison were more than just big hair and power ballads. Instead, as Poison predicted, Derrick Rose, like every rose, had its thorn. I think he's seen a lot of different things, he's a familiar with what we're doing, he's played with some of the guys we have.
