Drunk driver who killed Bryan man, baby headed to prison

Mrs. Guerrero was driving the vehicle at the time down Highway 21 in San Marcos when the public relations student, who was driving a Chevy Impala, drifted into oncoming traffic and crashed with their auto head-on.

During the trial, jurors heard from Kristian Guerrero, the woman who lost her child and husband in the crash.

"I just remember as soon as the accident happened I knew that I made the worst decision ever", Elliott said.

Elliott was indicted in October 2016 on two counts of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and one count of intoxication assault with a vehicle.

A Hays County jury has sentenced a 22-year-old woman who drove drunk and slammed into a auto, killing a man and his unborn child, to a total of 14 years in prison. They also said Elliott did not apply brakes before the impact. Guerrero said just before breaking down on the stand, according to KXAN.

Elliott pleaded guilty on Monday and wanted the jury to decide her punishment. She said she remembers Elliott's vehicle coming toward her before she tried to swerve out of the way.

Guerrero broke down crying on the stand when she spoke about delivering her baby four days after the crash, and four days after she found out her husband had died.

The couple's unborn child, seen above, was also killed in the crash. Guerrero got to hold his hand for a while, and his paternal grandmother got to hold him as well. She was driving home after spending the day tubing.

"I'm scared all the time", said Guerrero.

The video shows Elliott repeatedly walking the line while telling the cop: "Kill me now, please".

During closing arguments, Elliott's attorney asked the jury to give her probation since she has already spent more than a year in jail.
