If the idea of playing a battle royale shooter on your mobile device sounds appealing, then you should know that Fortnite is available on iOS.

It was recently revealed that the mobile title managed to hit the top of the free iOS games charts, without even a full release.

Fortnite for mobile brings the same last-player-standing action to iOS smartphones that players have enjoyed on PC and consoles for the last several months. "You have new friend invites ready to send!" the email reads.

Epic Games even has the ambition to have Fortnite become cross-platform for PS4 and Xbox One, but that is dependent on the console manufacturers.

It seems that Fortnite's mobile test is expanding quickly.

"Got a friend code to send?" Fortnite is already the No. 1 most downloaded iPhone game in the United States right now, according to data provided to GamesBeat by app-tracking firm Sensor Tower. One can only imagine that this kind of response was one that Epic Games was hoping for when releasing Fortnite and something that they hope to continue.

Many fans will need to free up some storage space to play the game, although it's definitely worth it.

iOS users were lucky enough to get their hands on Fortnite earlier today, but Fortnite Mobile for Android is coming sooner than later.

Once you've selected that you're a player, you'll be instructed to put in your credentials for the account on which you now play. The announcement was made on the Fortnite site with the promise of more details to come soon.

This will include bluetooth controller support, as well as voice chat options.
