George W. Bush arrives to pay respects to Graham

He was greeted by Graham's son Franklin and spent about 30 minutes with the family during a private viewing.

A statue of Billy Graham may soon be in the U.S. Capitol Building. "I remember as a kid my parents watching the Reverend Graham's crusades", Storke said.

The reverend will be buried on March 2 in his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, next to his wife Ruth, who passed away in 2007.

Clinton arrived in Charlotte on Tuesday and was escorted into Graham's boyhood home where his casket sits.

Pittenger's office announced on Monday that the special passes will allow viewers to bypass general lines of those waiting to pay tribute to the late evangelist, who died last week at 99.

Jimmy Jordan of Belmont said he also watched Graham on television as a child.

All living former U.S. presidents are expected to attend, along with the current president Donald Trump who has confirmed he will be there. On the night he was asked to accept Jesus, Billy Graham placed his trust and faith in the Lord.

Billy Graham's Lausanne Movement introduced the concept of "unreached people groups" that today lies at the heart of global missions strategy and drew "Two-Thirds World" Christian groups into their own global mission undertakings.

Clinton says Graham changed his life when he saw his crusade in Arkansas at a football stadium when he was 11. Though a private citizen, the church leader will be honored with a public viewing of his remains from February 28 to March 1 at the U.S. Capitol.

Thousands came Monday, filing past family photos and a cross made of white lilies to see Graham's closed plywood casket, made by Louisiana prison inmates. "And yet we have a calling to step in and be a part of what he has done all of these years, loving God, loving people with all that was within him", his wife said.

Graham acknowledged late in life that he had become too close to Richard Nixon, who he became close with even through Watergate. Obama tweeted last week after that Graham was "was a humble servant who prayed for so many - and who, with wisdom and grace, gave hope and guidance to generations of Americans".

"Just as I Am' strikes a real remembrance chord in me every time I hear it", he said.

"Thank God we have a president who stands for truth and is not afraid to speak truth to the whole world", Graham wrote in a Facebook post past year, referring to President Trump's speech at the UN.
