God Of War PS4 Has Gone Gold

A new interview just released by creative director Cory Barlog see him discuss the possibility of a photo mode coming to God of War for PlayStation 4, perhaps shortly after the launch of April 20.

The upcoming God of War is taking a massive risk by introducing fundamental changes to the series formula and by ditching Greek mythology and instead basing the game on the Norse mythology.

There are two big milestones for a game, the "greenlit" and the "going gold". All that remains is the manufacturing and shipping part of the process.

"Going gold means so much more to me with this game". This was the scariest, most wonderful thing I have ever done and I can honestly say it would never have been possible without the full-throated support of Sony and the tireless work of the incredible team at Santa Monica Studio. "I wanted to do this [the one-shot camera technique] and I had pitched it to Crystal Dynamics when I was there working on Tomb Raider and everyone was like, 'that's insane, we don't want to do that'". "Seeing the game as a whole makes sense, I see why you wanted this thing'". With an added emphasis on discovery and exploration, the world will draw players in to explore every inch of God of War's breathtakingly threatening landscape-by far the largest in the franchise.

God of War will release exclusively for PS4 on April 20th, 2018.

"And my reaction was like, 'Yeah, you know, I don't know if this is the best place for me anyway.' I was already starting to talk to people about new roles at Sony and then I think I realized this (God of War) is the one I can do it on".
