Griezmann, Vitolo on target as Atletico beat Celta

Valencia trio Neto (No 5, up 23 places), Rodrigo (No 7, up 128 places) and Geoffrey Kondogbia (No 8, up five places) broke into the top 10 after a 2-0 win against Sevilla - with the Rodrigo netting both goals.

With French forward Antoine Griezmann being the talk of the town with speculations about him joining FC Barcelona next season, Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone has once again rubbished reports about star forward joining one their biggest league rivals. Atletico are second in the standings on 64 points after 28 games while leaders Barcelona have 72 after winning 2-0 at Malaga on Saturday and third-placed Real Madrid have 57.

Atletico Madrid captain Gabi has urged Antoine Griezmann to keep "playing for his life" as long as he continues to don the club's shirt.

Griezmann's goal yesterday came a minute before the break as he controlled the ball at the back post following a corner and showed some brilliant footwork to take a Celta defender out of the game before firing into the far corner.

It was Atletico's second 3-0 win at home in four days after they beat Lokomotiv Moscow by the same scoreline in their Europa League last 16, first leg on Thursday.

Las Palmas remain in the relegation places after losing 2-0 at home to Villarreal, whose victory maintains their bid for European football next season. Earlier yesterday, Gerard Moreno got the victor, his 12th goal of the season, as Espanyol beat Real Sociedad 2-1.

Moreno got the victor off the rebound of his missed penalty kick, which was initially saved by former Atletico goalkeeper Miguel Angel Moya.

Raul Garcia scored twice in the first 20 minutes to lead Athletic Bilbao to a 2-0 win over visiting Leganes, ending the team's three-match winless streak in all competitions.
