Guillermo del Toro announces divorce

2018 has definitely been del Toro's year, and I bet he's pretty happy that he chose to skip out directing Pacific Rim Uprising to do this film.

"I separated in February [of 2017] and divorced in September", del Toro told the publication on Wednesday. But few people knew'.

The Guadalajara-born filmmaker won the Best Director and Best Picture at the 90th Academy Awards, and used his acceptance speech to talk about being an immigrant and the need to erase the lines that separate people.

He added: 'She is working with me, we have a nice friendship.

Mexicans have won four of the past five best director Oscars: Alfonso Cuarón for Gravity in 2014, Alejandro G Iñárritu for Birdman in 2015 and The Revenant in 2016, and now Guillermo del Toro...

"I did it all by myself!" she joked.

The film also already took home the trophy for Production Design.

Warning: Please don't read ahead if you haven't watched The Shape Of Water yet, as the following article completely ruins the conclusion for the Best Picture Oscar victor.
