It looks like Snapchat are finally introducing tagging in stories

Test users say the feature is activated when you add text to a snap.

We've gotten kind of use to Instagram stealing features from rival Snapchat.

Apparently the new tagging system is now being rolled out - so be on the lookout! As of right now, there is no concrete date as to when this new feature will be rolled out on the app, as it is currently still in Beta testing for the time being.

A few users, including actor Matt Rappaport, appear to have the feature already.

Unlike some other tagging features, typing an '@' sign will not prompt a dropdown menu of suggested usernames, so you'll need to remember how to spell someone's username correctly in order to tag them. Also, whoever gets tagged will receive a notification, so nothing will remain unseen.

Among the most egregious examples of this occurred when Instagram co-opted Snapchat's self-destructing video messages under a new name, "Instagram Stories", in November 2016.

Facebook was one of the first to allow users to tag other accounts in photos uploaded to the site.

Snapchat may soon allow its users to tag their friends on snaps and stories.

Tapping on the username prompts a pop-up that will take them to that profile.
