Logan actress Dafne Keen to star in His Dark Materials adaptation

Actress Dafne Keen (Logan) has signed on to star as Lyra in the adaptation. It tells the story of the coming of age of two children, Lyra and Will, who wander through a series of parallel universes.

Bad Wolf and BBC Worldwide, which will distribute the series, have reportedly been in talks with various global broadcasters and streaming services to find a set home for His Dark Materials.

The trilogy, which comprises the books Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass, follows adventures of Lyra and Will Parry as they explore parallel universes inhabited by witches, armoured bears, and daemons. Additionally, Entertainment Weekly reports that The King's Speech's Tom Hooper is being circled to direct and Hamilton mastermind Lin-Manuel Miranda is in talks to play hot air balloon pilot and adventurer Lee Scoresby. Hooper will direct the series, scripted by Jack Thorne (Skins), for BBC One; negotiations are taking place for U.S. and global rights, with both Netflix and Apple in contention. The project is said to be one of the most expensive British dramas in history. Bad Wolf and distributor BBC Worldwide have been in talks with a number of international networks and streaming services, with Apple and Netflix reportedly in talks for the US and global rights.
