'Luke Cage' gets season 2 premiere date

'Luke Cage' gets season 2 premiere date

The release date announcement came at the end of a short teaser that debuted on Tuesday, March 6.

Accompanied with a picture of Luke relaxing in Pop's Barber Shop, it starts to look like things are going perfectly smoothly for Luke in his new life, as he enjoys his newfound local celebrity following the events of his show's first season and The Defenders.

"You can't burn me, you can't blast me, and you definitely can't break me", Cage says confidently as he is seen walking through a fire, slapping away a gun and kicking down a door. The New York street-level hero later can be seen telling someone offscreen, "You want to test me? I'm right here", he continues. Cage will face a new enemy and be forced to battle the blurred lines between hero and villain.

Colter also reprises the role of Luke Cage on Netflix's Marvel series Jessica Jones, which has a Season 2 premiere date for March 8-Netflix has seven Marvel series now.

But while you're waiting for the official trailer to drop later this spring, we can tide you over with a few production stills and a couple behind the scenes images that feature Luke Cage reuniting with his buddy Danny Rand aka The Iron Fist. Colter was joined by the Academy Award winning Mahershala Ali along with Simone Missick who plays Misty Knight, Theo Rossi, Rosario Dawson, Alfre Woodard and Erik LaRay Harvey. They butted heads during their time on The Defenders mini-series last summer, but we expect their relationship to grow in the moments they're reunited in Luke Cage. Jessica Jones Season 2 is set to debut on March 8, and it looks like we're due for yet another dark journey into her world of trauma.
