The number of confirmed flu cases in NY continued to sharply decline for a second consecutive week, state officials announced Thursday.

Out of the 114 pediatric flu deaths in the United States this season, there were two flu-related deaths in West Virginia.

According to the March 9 report, the number of hospitalizations for laboratory-confirmed cases of flu per 1,000 licensed dropped almost 20 to 30.39.

As of March 3, flu remained geographically widespread in 34 states, down from 45 the week before, and was causing high levels of illness in 21 states, down from 32, CDC said.
