President Trump signs the $1.3 trillion omnibus that NO ONE READ

President Donald Trump signed a $1.3 trillion spending measure Friday averting a government shutdown at midnight, acting just hours after saying he was considering a veto.

The president admitted he was disappointed with just $1.6bn for his much-trailed wall on the Mexican border, far short of the $25bn he wanted. He explained he was signing it to take care of the military.

The president tweeted earlier Friday that he was considering a veto of the bill "based on the fact that the 800,000 plus DACA recipients have been totally abandoned by the Democrats". Then, adding to the made-for-TV drama, he scheduled a news conference. He had earlier said that he was considering a veto for the bill.

The bill passed the House 256-167 and the Senate by 65-32.

President Trump warns Congress he will never sign such a massive spending bill again, says the Senate must get rid of the filibuster rule, wants line-item veto power.

Trump's decision to ultimately sign the bill came after a call from Speaker Ryan.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi tweeted that Democrats had some of their own wins in the bill. "Please do, Mr. President", he tweeted. "I am just down the street and will bring you a pen".

Congressional aides said that the White House had suggested a three-year extension of the DACA program in exchange for $25 billion in funding for the border wall, a proposal Democrats rejected.

President Trump ended the DACA program last September and has since outlined strict pillars he wants addressed in any deal to offer deportation protections, or a path to citizenship, for the population of immigrants who have and would benefit from it. A judge has forced the administration to continue issuing renewals.

Trump officials even tried to back-channel conservative ideas with allies in Congress to defund sanctuary cities or push for more border wall spending, but to no avail. The rest can only be used to fix existing segments.

The surprise threat also threatened to undermine future efforts by White House staff tasked with negotiating on Trump's behalf.

"We don't know what's the next step", said Venezuelan-born Madi.

Once again, federal funding for the arts has been spared. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, encouraged him to veto the measure.

He praised the portions of the bill that increase military spending. Republicans control the House, Senate and White House.

"I think we'll be OK", he said.

"We applaud the many courageous young Americans exercising their First Amendment rights today", the statement read.

But the overall result has been unimaginable to many Republicans after campaigning on spending restraints and balanced budgets. Along with the recent GOP tax cuts law, the bill that stood a foot tall at some lawmakers' desks ushers in the return of $1 trillion deficits. He also supports the military funding increases. They will likely repeat in the next budget battle in the fall.
