Red Cross smoke detectors not part of recall

Approximately 40,000 units of the affected products were sold in Canada and 452,000 were sold in the U.S, reports Health Canada.

The Charlottesville Fire Department released an announcement that the Kidde dual sensor smoke alarms are being recalled. The Red Cross is installing Kidde model P3010L smoke alarms. They carry model numbers PI2010 and PI9010.

Over 400,000 Kidde smoke detectors are being recalled because they may fail to detect smoke.

According to the fire department, the alarms have a yellow cap inside that may block one of the two smoke sensors and compromise the alarm, making it unable to alert residents to a fire. If it has it has the yellow cap - which can be seen through openings on the side - it is one of the affected models and must be replaced. If the cap is present, they should immediately contact Kidde to receive instructions and request a free replacement smoke alarm.

No reports of incidents or injuries as a result of a yellow cap being present have been reported. The Smoke Alarm (Smoke Detector) market research report is a professional and in-depth study on the current state of Smoke Alarm (Smoke Detector) Industry.
