Syfy Debuts First Look at George RR Martin's Nightflyers

Syfy's upcoming series Nightflyers, based on George R.R. Martin's 1980 novella, just released a short first look video from the horror series.

"Nightflyers is a haunted house story on a starship", Martin says in the preview. "It's Psycho in space".

NIGHTFLYERS is a new sci-fi series coming soon to Netflix.

The production includes Irish talent such as Eoin Macken as Karl D'Branin and Brían F. O'Byrne as Auggie, alongside major global stars.

Moreover, to ensure said smooth series transition, Syfy is reportedly bringing onboard (as a consultant, ) Terry Matalas, writer and co-creator of the cable channel's imminently-ending series, 12 Monkeys, who also brings experience from his time on Nikita, Terra Nova, Star Trek: Enterprise and Star Trek: Voyager. It's not long before terrifying and violent events begin to take place, and the crew begins to start questioning each other. Mike Cahill will direct the pilot.

Daniel Cerone (The Blacklist, Dexter, Constantine, The Mentalist, Dirty Sexy Money) cowrote the series, and will serve as showrunner; Martin will of course, executive produce, and we'll update you on a premiere date when the announcement is made. They are on a mission to intercept an alien craft that could hold the very key to their survival.

It might not be the George R.R. Martin book you were hoping to read in 2018, but hey, if you can't have the one you love ...

Martin's novella was adapted once before this as well, in the 1987 movie of the same name.

As the crew nears their destination, they discover that the ship's artificial intelligence and reclusive captain Karl D'Branin (Macken) may be steering them into deadly and unspeakable horrors deep in the dark reaches of space.
