Syracuse will play Arizona State on Wednesday in NCAA Tournament

I'm not even going to talk about DeAndre Ayton, the best college basketball player, right now.

One of the toughest aspects of bracketing for the committee was what to do with the placement of Big East teams.

The event, which brings in an eye-popping $10 billion in sports wagers (only $3 billion of which is done legally), features a myriad of storylines, too many to count. MA transfer Donte Clark (18.6 points) erupted for 41 points during one of Jefferson's absences and is averaging 23.6 points over the last five contests. And the Musketeers and Jayhawks both went on to become No. 1 seeds for this NCAA tournament. Three wins I admit is pretty good, but nowhere near enough considering their ample opportunities.

Four players are averaging at least 14.6 points per game for Buffalo, they are CJ Massinburg (16.9), Nick Perkins (16.6), Jeremy Harris (15.4) and Wes Clark (14.6).

Taking that into consideration, though, those who have seen the Sun Devils' defense know the guards won't be able to do much to contain those three, and it will rather come down to how Syracuse takes advantage of defensive errors and, more so, what Arizona State does on the other side of the ball. But Notre Dame was the team the committee looked at thoroughly as a last team to make the field had the Wildcats lost.

"It's just an attitude that I have about myself", Massinburg told The Buffalo News". I have a really good team and I'm not going to go out there and try to score 30 every night because we share the wealth on this team. "That's something you want to leave behind as a senior, so I'm glad I could do that".

Their non-conference was relatively challenging, playing Arkansas and at Wichita State and they were 6-9 against the field. But here the Orange are, and going up against an ice-cold Arizona State team, they've got the chance to prove they belong with a tournament victory.

Arizona State has the potential to light up the scoreboard just about any time out, led by a trio of senior guards who together are averaging nearly 48 points per game. Overall on the season they do very well in that category, but that's a crack in the armor.

Rawle Alkins, who will likely be tasked with guarding Massinburg on Thursday, is embracing the team's hard path to San Antonio.

"I whispered to Garielle Cooper saying what if we're not in", Tiana Mangakahia.

"It's definitely a factor of who you play, " said Rasmussen. With the added motivation of this being the final time the senior trio suits up under the maroon and gold, it's safe to expect the Sun Devil seniors to be ready to play in the biggest games of their lives. The Tigers haven't lost in almost a month, and enter the Big Dance on a seven game winning streak.
