Trump Doubles Down: 'We're Going to Protect Our Second Amendment'

The market shift comes after Trump tweeted early Wednesday in an apparent response to a now-infamous editorial from retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens demanding Congress repeal the Second Amendment.

"A very important and respected, in some circles, Democrat said we should get rid of our Second Amendment", Mr. Trump said, almost at a loss for words. Stevens made clear his disdain for the pro-gun decision in District of Columbia v. Heller (2008) and suggested a full repeal of the Second Amendment would render Heller moot.

The American left has quickly moved from calls to ban rifles with scary looks to outright demands to eliminate the Second Amendment.

Stevens says the decision in that case, District of Columbia v. Heller, "has provided the N.R.A. with a propaganda weapon of vast power".

People clapped at the President said, "Could be right about that". Stevens retired from the court in 2010, after more than 35 years.

"I favor changing the Second Amendment", King said.

In his essay published Tuesday, Stevens talks about the "March for Our Lives" events on Saturday which drew crowds in cities across the country.

"You know who started the second amendment?"
