Xiaomi Redmi 5 to be Amazon India exclusive

Following the launch Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro last month, Xiaomi is now set to bring another new budget smartphone to India on March 14. It will be noticeably different from the original, though purely for the better, because it will be equipped with more modern fixtures.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 is said to be an entry-level smartphone and will succeed the Redmi 4. The announcement of Redmi Note 5 in China, Xiaomi will be March 16 this year, and nearly immediately it goes on sale, so it can be ordered on the same AliExpress, but its value at this point remains unknown. While the company is yet to reveal many details about the device, it has now been confirmed that the Redmi 5 will be made available exclusively through Amazon India. On the software front, the Redmi 5 runs Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box with MIUI 9 layered atop.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 will succeed the Redmi 4, which has done exceptionally well in India. In China, the phone was launched in a choice of 2G + 16GB and 3GB + 32GB configurations and this is likely the same options one can expect in India as well.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 is expected to feature a 5.7 inch HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) display and it will come with an 18:9 aspect ratio.

On Xiaomi's official website, the launch event is scheduled for March 14, 3:00 PM. It will also be available in 16GB/32GB storage variants.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 will be coming with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC which is an octa-core processor running at a clock rate of 1.8 GHz paired with Adreno 506 GPU. The internal storage of the phone is expandable via microSD card. Below the camera, at the back, there is a fingerprint sensor. the battery of the phone is 3300mAh.

The camera section of this phone has a 12MP sensor in the rear and a 5MP sensor in the front.
