12000 attend second concert in Pyongyang

A South Korean artistic group, including pop legends and the popular girl band Red Velvet, flew to Pyongyang over the weekend for two performances in the North Korean capital.

After the concert, Kim referred specifically to Red Velvet, a K-pop sensation hugely popular in South Korea. Kim was seen clapping in time to the music and later took photographs with the performers. After this meeting between the north Korean leader Kim Jong un and south Korean president Moon Jae-in, Mr. Kim must meet by the end of may with the american president Donald Trump.

Kim clapped his hands during the event, and he shook hands with South Korean performers and took a group photo with them after their performance, according to the reports.

"We should hold culture and art performances frequently", Kim told the South Korean performers.

Kim was also quoted as saying if the two Koreas maintain and continuously foster a good mood between them, Koreans will greet a future where there are only genial springs with budding sprouts and blossoming flowers, and affluent autumns with ripe grains and fruits.

Kim also talked about girl band Red Velvet.

The Xi-Kim summit also clearly signifies that China continues to be the most important player - outside of the United States - in working towards a resolution of tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

He said in a statement: "Our mainstream artists and I will do our best to make a success of the historic concerts in Pyongyang, which are the first in 13 years".

South Korean singers arrive at Incheon International Airport from Pyongyang on Wednesday.

While defectors and those who work with them are unclear of the actual legalities surrounding possession of South Korean cultural content, one defector told Asia Times she knew of a case when possession of such content led to death.

It is not known whether the North, which strictly bans its citizens from listening to K-pop, will air any of the concerts on TV, though a five-minute summary of the Sunday concert was shown Monday afternoon on the North's Korean Central Television.

Full video of their and other South Korean singers' performances wasn't immediately available.

South Korean culture minister Do Jong-whan said he hopes the performances will result in further cross-border exchanges.

It is evident that the situation in the Korean peninsula is changing, and Kim Jong-un is treading a different line compared to his earlier aggressive stance.

Kim Jong Un reportedly gave much applause after each performance and was well aware of the songs by Cho Yong Pil, Lee Sun Hee, and Choi Jin Hee. Athletes from North and South Korea marched under a unified peninsula flag at the opening ceremony at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in February.

Whenever dinner receptions were held for the two visits to Pyongyang by South Korean presidents, Kim Jong Il's wife did not attend. In addition to the concert, a team of South Korean taekwondo demonstrators performed on Sunday at the Pyongyang Taekwondo Hall, drawing more than 2,300 North Koreans, including Choe Hwi, chairman of the National Sports Guidance Committee.
