Battlefield 1 Will Cease Receiving Monthly Updates This Summer

It's now been a year and a half since Battlefield 1's launch, and since then, DICE has released numerous DLC packs and content updates.

KitGuru Says: It was a slow start for Battlefield 1 expansions, but it looks like the end is now in sight- just in time for Battlefield V's reveal. Today, you can tackle Rupture - a map taking place during the Second Battle of the Marne, characterized by its poppies growing over rusty wrecks. One map, Rupture, is already playable for all Battlefield 1 players, with more coming in May. Coming in May, you'll get to play on more maps with the hardened veterans of the French army making in a stand in a brutal defense of their homeland.

He also announced the new Shock Operations mode, dropping in June.

There is, however, no clear information now available about this drastic decision of completely eradicating the monthly updates.

While announcing new maps for the They Shall Not Pass expansion and a brand new mode called Shock Operations, DICE's Jonas Elfving confirmed that the team is basically moving on this Summer. This 40-player battle will follow the standard Operations procedure, but limited to one map, ideal for those players who just want to jump in for a quick bout on en masse warfare. Described as "bite-sized epicness" the new mode is essentially the same as Operations, but plays out on a single map, making it shorter than a full Operations match. As you may have seen on the Updates Page, these updates can cover anything: "matchmaking, weapon balancing, even Dreadnought horns that sometimes won't stop blaring", he said.

Meanwhile, another They Shall Not Pass map is available for all Battlefield 1 base game owners.
