'Don't have oral sex, your mouth's for eating': Ugandan president warns citizens

'Don't have oral sex, your mouth's for eating': Ugandan president warns citizens

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni in a televised press conference Wednesday said he wants to ban oral sex in the country as the "mouth is for eating".

Amid rising concern about the "spread" of homosexuality, partly stoked by US-backed evangelical Christian preachers, in 2009 one of Museveni's ministers proposed legislation making same-sex activity punishable by death.

Museveni claims this practice has been promoted by "outsiders", saying the "mouth is for eating and not for sex".

Meanwhile, Museveni's warning about oral sex is not an isolated case of his government's crackdown on unconventional sexual practices.

"We know the address of sex; we know where sex is", Museveni warned his citizen. People with no conception of love have called them immoral and made several attempts to ban them from being a part of the society. Under the Anti-Homosexuality Act 2014, repeat offenders would be sentenced to 14 years in prison and Ugandans were required to denounce known homosexuals, Patheos reported. After signing the act in 2014, Museveni labelled homosexuals as "mercenaries" and "prostitutes" who were behaving gay for money.

"The address of sex" is my new favorite term.

"In a country where the climate for LGBTI people was already hostile and discriminatory, LGBTI people have faced a notable increase in arbitrary arrests, police abuse and extortion, loss of employment, evictions and homelessness, and scores have fled the country".
